Los Bosch Gaviño book will be presented

Los Bosch Gaviño bookBy Casa de la Cultura and Luz & Fuerza in Las Terrenas

BREAKING NEWS: Las Terrenas.- Papa Juan, that distant day in 1894, looking for better luck when he landed in the Dominican Republic, probably could not imagine it would be the founder of a descent that would have marked the history of this country. His grandson, Professor Juan Bosch, seventy years later, would have been President and founder of the two most important parties of the national political scene.

My maternal grandfather - as describes Juan Gaviño Rodriguez (Papa Juan) the same teacher Bosch, with words full of affection - was Galician. He was a man and a culture, a fairly high level. While I always thought he had been a seminary because I could not understand otherwise Papa Juan’s culture. It happened that, as a boy, Papa Juan was an orphan and, with his sister Adelina, was greeted by close family and educated by Christian monks.

It is the beginning of the formidable family saga that journalist Bosch Gaviño, Evelyn Marte Rodríguez tells us, with passion and participation, in his volume The Bosch Gaviño, Notes and graphs about your family history, which since a few weeks ago is in bookshops in the country.

The book - the author writes in his introduction - is an attempt to get closer to this unique social nucleus from a human perspective and family has been rarely treated…. He explains: I had the pleasant privilege of having the testimony of relatives and close friends of the family.

One of these is Dr. Milagros Ortiz Bosch, former vice president of the Republic, who, in his preface, says: For those who heard from our parents and grandparents of the family history, work that built up their assets, find the documentation that supports the processes that formed the prestige of Juan Gaviño, land purchased, the record of baptism of the aunts, the grandparents’ marriage certificate, the purchase of their farms, with the systematization and the credibility of the documentation as presented by the author, we feel compelled to recognize and acknowledge the seriousness of its investigation. Juan Bosch is the fundamental value of our family, is the best result in the formation of values that our ancestors gave us.

La Casa de la Cultura de Las Terrenas with the Alliance of Business Travel Services Samaná and the patronage of the Luz y Fuerza Company, always very sensitive when it comes to supporting a culture, will present the volume The Bosch Gavino, Notes and graphs about your family history of Evelyn Marte Rodriguez on Saturday March the 6th at 6.00 pm Alliance College in Las Terrenas.

Will be with us, among others, the author, Evelyn Marte Rodriguez, Dr. Milagros Ortiz Bosch and Jose Oscar Orsini Bosch, whose tireless work has had such a part, and still has, in the development of our people.

GENERAL COMMUNICATION

Electrical energy in Las TerrenasLight and Power Company

BREAKING NEWS: Las Terrenas.- The Light and Power Company of Las Terrenas, C. by A., has as duty to inform their users of the existence of situations that will impact directly on the price of electricity currently offered:

1. - Natural Gas

Our company invested millions sums to produce electricity through natural gas to seek a substantial reduction in the cost of energy production we supply you. Ready to start generating on the fuel, cleaner and less impact on the environment than diesel, to make our first purchase of natural gas in the local market, we note with surprise that both the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Finance have decided to charge a tax ad valorem 16% of this fuel, using internal resolutions. We have earned our reasoning that such action is rescinded.

In conclusion, after heavy investments, users of our area could be benefited with low production costs, but due to taxes imposed by the Government, the reality is that producing power with natural gas is more expensive than producing it with oil.

2. - Fuel Import Tax

The Ministries of Finance and of Trade and Industry are requiring the company to pay retrospective taxes on imports of some of the fuel and used to produce electricity during the months from September to December 2009, energy sold and paid to you based on the price of these fuels exonerated, as we have done in over 18 years of existence of this company, as they are sold to other generators in the country.

For months we have tried that recovery may not occur, but after repeated threats of suspension of the release of fuel, we are obliged to inform you that, of yielding to the demands of the authorities, we will have to make a substantial increase on your next electricity bill.

3. - Line Las Galeras - Las Terrenas

This undertaking requires the construction of a line interconnecting the systems of Las Galeras and Las Terrenas, in order to be able to increase wind power generation park Guásumas 2,000 KW The power and energy exporting from there to Las Terrenas. The Superintendence of Electricity (SIE) prevents this by hosting the illegal construction of the Progress of Lemon C. By A., redistributing energy EDENORTE purchase in our concession area, which prevents us to obtain not only clean energy and less harmful to the environment generated by the wind for Las Terrenas, but also a much lower cost.

The same agency maintains a ban on building new power lines that have paralyzed many tourism development projects from the beaches of El Limon and El Estillero.

4. - Law No. 158-01 for the Promotion of Development of New Tourist Pole of Great Potential.

We have proposed to the Minister of Tourism the possibility that the operations of our company are framed within the benefit of the law 158-01 of which there is a precedent that would exempt from taxation the generation and distribution of electricity to light and The Earth Force, which would transfer this cost reduction to users. We still are pending a decision of this Ministry in this regard.

Our argument

Our arguments have been ignored by the authorities, so we decided to publish these problems so that you assist with finding solutions that make clear, both the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Commerce, and Tourism, and especially the Superintendence of Electricity to the people of Las Terrenas not deserve to be punished with higher taxes applying to the cost of electricity.
