Creation of a commission to reduce toll plaza rates El Catey - Las Terrenas
The global standard rate is 10 cents per km
During a meeting that took place in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Elsa de Leon, the Diputy Juan Jose Morales Cisneros, transportation leaders and professional, social, and religious organizations representatives, it was agreed to create a monitoring committee in order to reduce the toll rates of the road linking El Catey to Las Terrenas.
The journalist Delvis Santos, general secretary of the Samana Zone for the Dominican Association of Tourist Press (Adompretur), said the excessive toll rates are generating the opposite effect of the one expected after the construction of Atlantic Tourist Boulevard.
The Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Samaná (AHETSA), which is affiliated to the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), also supports the opposition movement.
Experts indicated that the world standard fee for a two-lane highway built under a concession contract, as the El Catey to Las Terrenas road, is 10 dollars cents per kilometer. According to this parameter, the 24 kilometers of the Atlantic Tourist Boulevard should not cost more than three dollars, which is just over one hundred Dominican pesos.

This is a positive step in bringing forth the adjustment of the toll charges from El Catey to LT. 100 pesos is what it should be. Also have the availability for commercial vehicles to buy a pass at a special price. Right there is very little traffic on this new stretch of highway. This is due primarily to greed and studpidity by those who set the prices originally.
