An objective and honest look on the villageAfter the numerous positive and negative reactions to the publication of the information space in which we offer advising village who wish to settle in Las Terrenas, it seems useful to clarify some points.
Before all, this initiative is not aimed to harm the image of Las Terrenas, on the contrary.
Las Terrenas Live has always been a website focused on the positive aspects of the village (which has also been criticized) as we are aware of the international effects of the news that are publish, and also because we are convinced that there are many more positives than negatives aspects here.
However, although we consider we shouldn’t emphasize the negative events of the village, we know that we are the first point of reference for anyone wishing to visit Las Terrenas.
Therefore, it is with the aim to restore the reputation of the village we offer our advice.
There is no reason to created an utopia of the situation, when unfortunately the reputation of Las Terrenas already exists, and it wasn’t made by us, but by dishonest establishments and the large number of persons that have been deceived.
Therefore, although it would be wrong to say that everyone in Las Terrenas is dishonest, saying that everyone is honest is an obvious lie only few persons will believe, and they will quickly realize they were wrong by their own.
This initiative aims to restore the reputation of the village, accepting the situation as it is and trying to fix it. The goal is to inform village about the reality of the situation, in order to ensure their safety and allow them to fully enjoy the positive aspects of our village.
Also we want to offer to interested persons an objective opinion, without any malice or personal interest, to reassure investors and residents. The advices offered by Las Terrenas Live are totally objective and will only expose the existing reputation of the establishments.
We aim to put at the disposal of people living abroad and wishing to settle in Las Terrenas our tips to help them, as anyone could give an opinion on a good restaurant, and this before their arrival in order to avoid they found out by themselves, after losing their money and they leave with a bad impression of the village.
The advice will be based on criteria such as safety (number of guardians for a residential, number of robberies in a given area) or the time since the enterprise is based in Las Terrenas…
We will act as an old friend who advises someone willing to come to Las Terrenas, but with a totally objective view of the situation.
Unfortunately, one and only bad example is enough to cause great damages to the reputation of other serious enterprises. We do not want to be the tree that hides the forest. The case of the real estate agency Accord Tropical will have a negative impact on serious real estate agencies. The insecurity the investors will feel as a result of these incidents might make them decide not to settle in Las Terrenas, while highlighting the seriousness of the good establishments, relying on the recommendation of former clients who are now residents (and there are many ), will only contribute to the healthy development of village.
Finally, let’s recall that Las Terrenas Live always worked with objectivity and reliability concerning the information that we published and we will act the same serious way with this initiative.
The website is a window on the village and this is why we never made any advertising campaign with establishments whose dishonesty is proven since the aim is to offer our readers the best of the village, and this in the interest of everyone.

Hi: My wife & I live in LT about half the year. Life is not that different whether it is in the DR or the USA. In a small town there are good guys and bad buys who are only looking out for their own interests. In the 6 years we have lived in LT I firmly believe that Las Terrenas has made great progress for both it’s citizens and visitors. Even with some people who are not working for the greater good Las Terrenas is thriving. This is due to efforts by both hard working Domincians and Ex-pats alike. Las Terrenas is on the right path and with the help, most of the time, by the Federal Gov. especially in the area of infrustructure it will continue strong growth. If the majority all work towards a common end, the few detractors, will be pushed by the wayside. Progress is slow, however it has been steady. The sky is the limit.

Myself and my family visit the Dominican Republic every year and has come to be our treasured second home. It is truly a beautiful place with beautiful and friendly people.
