The country could lose funding for Juan Bosch wind farm in Samaná

Wind farm in SamanáETED didn’t grant no-objection certificate yet

The Dominican Republic could lost a soft financing offered by an agency of the United States government for the Professor Juan Bosch wind farm, since the Electricity Transmission Company (ETED), from the CDEEE group has not granted the certificate of non- objection to the construction of an interconnection line between Las Galeras and Las Terrenas.

The negotiations to obtain a funding of $ 2.3 million from the NRECA International, Ltd, began in January 2010. The agency reported that the deadline was Tuesday, September 20th.

Julian Cordero, executive of the Las Galeras, SA Wind Generator, said that unfortunately it seems the engineer Celso Marranzini, vice president of the CDEEE, and Enrique Ramirez, president of the National Energy Commission, failed to provide no-objection certificate for the project.

We have met all the statutory procedures and talked with all the relevant officials to get permission, without any positive results, they haven’t even formally informed us about the reasons for not granting the certificate said Julian Cordero.

Once again we insist on the importance of this no objection, since we believe that it would benefit the residents of the Northern Region of the Samaná Peninsula, which will have a cleaner and cheaper energy.
