80% of the hotels in the country are small establishments
In Las Terrenas there are five large-capacity hotels
80% of the hotels in the country are small, and in tourist locations such as Jarabacoa, Constanza and Cabarete they are the only option for accommodation.
According to the registration of the Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores), the country has 674 hotels totaling 66.968 rooms, of which 538 are small establishment and represent an offer of 13.166 bedrooms.
According to these statistics, the 136 large hotels in the country represent 80% of the total rooms available.
In Santa Barbara de Samaná, the biggest hotels are Cayacoa and Cayo Levantado, which offer respectively 295 and 214 rooms, while in Las Terrenas there are five large capacity hotels totaling 955 rooms.
